Hornet’s Nest BMX is located in Charlotte, North Carolina at Hornet’s Nest Park.

Founded in 1982 by Fred Melton, Sr. and affiliated with the American Bicycle Association (ABA), Hornet’s Nest BMX is backed with 25 years of industry experience and the current track operator, Mark Coates, has been in charge since 2003. Mark brings a lot of enthusiasm and energy to the track as evidenced by Hornet’s Nest BMX earning the right to host several key races in the past couple of years including the 2003 Redline Cup Finals East (151 motos) and the 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2011 ABA North Carolina State Championship Finals. Hornet’s Nest BMX also hosted a Redline Cup Qualifier in 2005 and the TarHeel National in 2007

Some additional Hornet’s Nest BMX honors and key races from past years include:

  • Currently the top USA BMX track in North Carolina
  • Has hosted the North Carolina State Championship Final for five consecutive years
  • Rated 2nd in the East Region (out of 49 tracks)
  • Rated 27th in the nation (out of 240 tracks)
  • Hosted the 1998 East Coast National
  • Hosted the 1982 and 1983 Dixieland Nationals
